Fivos Valachis
Born in Athens (Greece) in 1959, crossroad of Westernand Eastern culture.
I learn as a child to appreciate both classical and popular culture.
1967, felt in love with the piano, beginning the study of the instrument.
The adolescent years are years of continuous curiosity and musical experimentation, moving from folk music to hard rock, from pop / rock to classical music. These were also the years that I compose my first "rudimentary" pieces and songs and I learn to play also guitar, accordion, bouzouki and baglama.
1977, simultaneously at the end of High School, I conclude studies in classical piano at the Conservatory of Athens and I move to Turin/Italy for graduate studies in Computer Science.
Studies that I carry on, playing as a pianist in piano-bar, piano teacher of harmony and private freelance musician.
1978, winner of second prize of UNESCO's International Competition for original music for children.
1981, parallel to the university, graduate in jazz technique and improvisation with teacher Giorgio Gaslini.
At least for 20 years, for personal reasons, I retired in the background, composing greek and italian songs and music for advertising, using a pseudonym.
At the same time I continue to compose neo-classical piano music and doing private or small concerts up to 50 people, up to the age of 53 years.
2013 May, I wake up and decide to share my musical diary not only with friends and family, but through the internet with everyone using https://soundcloud.com/fivosvalachis and streaming concerts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8vgDpkMqw4.
The effect of this decision on my life, was not imaginable.
New contacts with great musicians like the PianoCloud community, 21 charity concerts in one year in Italy and many friends around the world.
About my music?
You have to immagine this:
"Night.
Silence.
Thoughts.
Dialogues in my mind, on my own, with myself or other people.
The only moment of a whole day that I have time to reassemble myself and let the unconscious come out, without controls.
Completely free. "No rules, No must."

Sofia Mastrokoukou
